Best & Fairest – Matthew Exell |

|
YJFL Best & Fairest - Under 10s Blue 2011 |
Matt is a sublime talent but I loved his endeavour and his resolve to never give in, they are characteristics that stood him apart from all others in the division. Matt set the ground alight whether roving, ruck roving or resting forward. Apart from his natural talent he brings other players into the game and as such is a wonderful team player.
Matt was duly rewarded by taking out not only our best & fairest but also clinching the competition award. |

Runner Up Best & Fairest – Tom Johnston
The smiling assassin finished 5th in the competition and 2nd in our best and fairest. Tom’s strength and skill made him a very adaptable player as he went through most positions in the spine of the ground as well as taking his share of ruck duties! Whether taking big grabs, wheeling onto his left for another dash and goal or laying out opponents he always did it with a smile and aplomb! |

3rd Best & Fairest – James Dickinson
Our 3rd best and fairest was a true scrapper James Dickinson who hunted a contest, honestly if there was a dog fight outside the fence I reckon he’d jump into that just for the contest! His irrepressible energy and will to win the footy made him a very important part of the team! Certainly everybody around him walked a bit taller when Dicko was on the attack! Along with fellow tough nuts, Alex Nicholson, Cooper Bond and Gus Beale these 4 formed our kennel of junk yard dogs as they burst open contests on regular occasions throughout the year! |

Coaches Award –Darcy Feutrill
Darcy eats, sleeps and breathes footy and when he goes out on a weekend I always know that he will give his utmost! A major focus that I drove with the boys was that of being a team player and looking after teammates and I was very happy to see how Darcy approached not only his game but the team aspect whether it be shepherding, sharing the football or supporting teammates with his voice he was very active. Darcy had a great year narrowly missing out on the 3rd best & fairest by 1 vote and accordingly (although sheepishly) I have awarded him the coaches award for 2011. |

Most Improved – Finlay Pike
Our most improved award went to the enigmatic flying Fin Pike who played in many positions throughout the year. Like an unbroken Brumby, Fin’s ability to do the unpredictable and his willingness to take a risk rewarded the team with some breathtaking runs throughout the year. Fin not only improved as a footballer but matured as a person showing strong leadership qualities throughout the year.
